Set in Ritzy’s, a sophisticated nightclub of the roaring twenties, this script offers scope for a stylish production. The glamorous nightclub people (including the worldly Nick and the unworldly Irma) join forces with Ma Baker against the dedicated ladies of the Purity League and the even more dedicated Rafia Gang! A lot happens in the Ritzy and it’s all fun for the actors and the audience. This show’s got the lot – glitter, gags, goils and gangsters!

NORA: Hearty, hard-bitten owner of the Ritzy Nightclub
OFFICER O'RILEY: Soft-hearted, likeable Irish cop
NICK: Worldly, attractive rogue. Nora's right-hand man
LILY: Sophisticated, ladylike, cool. Nora's daughter
IRMA: Well bred, wide-eyed innocent who becomes more sophisticated
FRED: A wimp in wolf's clothing. Outwardly suave but afraid of women
ACE: Gany boss, cocky, cool
CRUSHER: Likeable, not-too-bright gang member. Slow, deep laugh
FINGERS: Italian member of gang, snazzy dresser, uses stiletto as nailfile
POILE: Dumb, dead-pan, high-pitched voice, one of the gang
MOITLE: Another gang member. One degree brighter than Poile
MA BAKER: A rootin' tootin' hillbilly, brach, energetic, friendly
BLOSSOM & PETAL: Ma Baker's unsophisticated girls unspoilt by city ways
PURITY LEAGUE LADIES: Prim & proper ladies, all well-starched & well-padded. Exaggerated characters.
IRMA'S FATHER: City gent
PLEASE NOTE - In the case of not enough men at auditions, some of the male roles will be given to women (and vice a versa).

Auditions will be a cold read from the script.
Please also have a 30 sec to 1 minute song ready for auditions. Backing music can be used (please bring the music on a CD or USB or you can use your phone or other device).

There will also be a short choreography section during the audition period. This will be created by the choreographer and is to check people's movement limits etc. This is not something to be scared of!

Please note - all cast and crew members will be required to become financial members of KSP Theatre before performances.
